The Brisbane Airport Rotary Club has been assisting Hummingbird House with the maintenance of their lawns for the past 4 years.

Co-founders, Paul and Gabrielle Quilliam, are an ordinary Queensland couple who, after fostering a child affected by a life-limiting condition, made it their mission to build Hummingbird House. After opening in October 2016, the house best practice paediatric palliative care for children affected by life-limiting conditions and their families. It provides access to short break stays, family support services, creative therapies, and care at the end of life, and works to meet the needs of each individual child and their family.

Hummingbird House ensures that children can have a break from hospitals and daily routines, and that parents have the opportunity to gain a few hours of undisturbed sleep and the chance to be mum or dad to all their children rather than the exhausted 24/7 medical carer. It is a medically supported home away from home, where kids can be kids, families can reconnect, and, memories can be created to last a lifetime.
